Here's what one critic has to say about The Balona Klongs:

"The Balona Klongs is comic, but it's also sad. The reader gradually comes to realize how the attitudes, prejudices, and quirks of the characters are influencing events. At first,  The Balona Klongs seems to leap from scene to scene, not gifting the reader with a clear view of protagonist or conflict or the trappings of the traditional novel. But you soon grasp what's happening to the players, and by the time the denouement arrives, you don't expect it, but are almost resigned to it. Although I laughed my way through most of the book, I confess I was in tears at the end."--Eugene K. Nelson, Whispers..
