In this snapshot, author-editor Jon Riis (pronounced "reese") is shown at the Balona Marina. He is a very literary fellow with an elegant education and an extensive library of his own, but on weekdays he is an "earth scientist" and can usually be found tramping in the weeds looking for cracks in the ground and listening for rumbling far below. After all, Balona is in California and sits astride her own fault line!
Jon is not married but has a steady girlfriend who, he avers, has tolerated him for at least three years. He is a fellow with graduate degrees he never brags about. "I do like my dayjob most of the time. But I love editing BalonaBooks and have become thoroughly familiar with the family trees and peculiarities of most of those odd Balona people.
The best news about Jon is that he has now completed, and BalonaBooks has published, Jon's first two works of fiction for us. The first, Something for Nothing, features Balona character Zachary Burnross of A Little Honesty fame. Jon's latest is out now.
