Some of you are thinking, What are those tigers doing up there? Well, 2010 is the year of the tiger in the Chinese calendar, so we are celebrating them because they are strong and sturdy and striped, kind of like me, except I am a lot smaller and without stripes.
Anyway, we are so happy that handsome Mr. Joaquin Peralta's new BalonaBooks are getting such great reviews. They are (first one): Bandits! and is the story of a kid who runs off from the family goat farm to make his fortune in the Gold Rush, but gets kidnapped by cutthroat bandits. And (second one, but just as fine): Emma Snow Emma Snow is the story of Emma and her brother who get taken against their will to the California Gold Rush and sold into sort of slavery. What a great story!
Speaking of great stories, our cute curly-headed editor Jon Riis has just finished his first BalonaBook. He calls it Something for Nothing and it is a fantasy that features very strange characters, not just the usual strange Balona characters. It will be on the market in May so I can't show you anything about it yet (except let you know that if you click on the title here you will be whisked to a sort of "preview" of it). I can guarantee it will tickle you!
Even Joey Kuhl's book, the one in which he comes off as a hero, sort of, is being read by a bunch of guys. Mr. Don Keyshot admits that Joey's book An Almost Private eye will make a good beginning-a-new-year or birthday gift and that just because it's a detective story doesn't mean you couldn't read it and get a nice chill from it in January.
You can buy books right on this Web site with a credit card or through your regular vendor. Unfortunately, my checking account balance is sort of low, so I'm using the free Balona Library which is now part of my rich friend Claire's cybercafe she calls "Balona-dot-Com" on Front Street.
