The newest BalonaBook story is dark as well as funny and thought-provoking, as it has as one of its subjects the terrible San Francisco Earthquake and Fire of 1906. Twelve-year-old Tery Ordway, a very smart young woman interviews 105-year-old Junior Kuhl, a survivor of that awful event. Tery has some personal problems and a difficult high school editor, but Junior strives on, telling his story with gusto. See Nobody's Fault: Surprises from the Earth and the Heart. (Available in December)
Some of the more recent BalonaBooks do take up space in a warehouse or on shelves in bookstores, but many of them are not printed until you order them. So when you go into most bookstores seeking a BalonaBook, you'll have to ask that it be ordered for you. Any independent dealer worth patronizing will do this for you as a courtesy. Of course, you'll likely get the book(s) sooner if you order by phone or on-line!.

Reader groups--teen students and grown-ups--have admitted to enjoying discussion of BalonaBooks and/or the writing process with the author via e-mail or speakerphone conference. Make such arrangements using the e-mail address above.
