Joseph Oliver Kuhl, possible future private eye and more-or-less diligent student of criminal justice at Chaud County Community College, sets to work discovering the villain who is burning down the Balona business district. Maybe this time he'll be successful?

amateur detective fiction CLICK to hear one of Joe's favorite funky college tunes.

Here Joe reveals some of his thinking, particularly about his acquisition of a car of his own. You are sure to discover that Joe is sort of sexist, sort of clueless at this point, but eager to possess the junk car sitting in Mr. Weiner's driveway:

Right now I'm considering a change of name for the vehicle since I mentioned to Millie this morning after our first class, that I was expanding my sphere by getting a car. I told her about my desire to name it "The Yellow Beauty." I did not divulge my reason for giving it exactly that name, sine I wasn't sure she wouldn't snicker at the idea of a car being named for a Green Hornet comic book vehicle.
"You could call it The Yellow Peril instead of The Yellow Beauty," went Millie while looking at me over her cup of cold coffee, "since I hear that particular car's got a dangerous history--and maybe a dangerous future."
"Hey, yeah!" I went at the time, since The Yellow Peril sounds nice and sinister, which is exactly what is should sound like, the automotive equivalent of a Hard Look. Millie thinks of stuff like that very quick, which shows if she was a guy she would probably be able to develop a real PI brain."
